Hi, I'm Valerie. My family and I are expats living in Switzerland. My husband, Marc, and I both worked in Washington, D.C for five plus years. We wanted to get away from the rat race and try something new. Although we both grew up in the US, Marc is also a dual citizen with Switzerland. He had always wanted to live and work here since most of his family is here. I was up for the adventure before we got too old. hahaha! Most of my family is in the US and I want to get back there soon. We have lived in Bern, Switzerland since December 2007. In that time a lot has changed... We went from dual income no kids with dog in the US to single income one kid with dog in Switzerland in a matter of one year. We also moved into two different apartments in Switzerland before our daughter, Lorelei, was born. Luckily, the move was only down the street. The US job and housing market has gone sour. Marc is an architect. Since there is a soft housing market in the US that equals tough to find a steady job in architecture. Our move to Switzerland was a two year self commitment, but with the tough job market in the US our stay here in Switzerland is yet to be determined. Currently I am a stay at home mom to our 15 month old daughter, formerly an IT auditor/consultant. This will be a blog about our adventures while living in Switzerland.
